Itinerary - Highlights of Argentina Tour

Day 1. Fly to Buenos Aires

Arrive into the capital city of Buenos Aires, private transport to your hotel.

Day 2. Buenos Aires City Tour

Morning private tour of the city. Your tour takes you to the colourful Boca area, San Telmo which is famous for its antique shops and tango as well as the major sights of this cosmopolitain city.

Day 3. Fly to El Calafate

Today you fly south to El Calafate in Patagonia. Try to get a window seat for breathtaking views of El Lago Argentina with its hunks of icebergs floating serenely in the turquiose water. You have a free afternoon to explore this characterful town, situated next to the lake. Don’t miss the superb restaurants here, the perfect place to try Patagonian lamb and a bottle of Argentine Malbec.

Day 4. Perito Merino Glacier

Visit Perito Merino glacier with option to do a glacier walk (no experience required) or boat trip up to the face of the glacier. If you are lucky you will witness calving, this happens when ice breaks away from the main glacier and crashes into the water below.

Day 5. El Calafate

Free day to relax. We recommend a visit to the ice museum. There are also options to visit an Estancia and take a boat trip to the Upsala glacier.

Day 6. Fly to Bariloche

Fly north along the Andes to Bariloche, the heart of Lake District of Argentina.

Day 7. Bariloche Circuit

This morning your local guide and driver will take you out of town to see magnificent views of Lake Nahuel Huapi.

Day 8. Bariloche

A free day to explore at your own pace. Or we can arrange hiking, kayaking or boat trips if you like to be active.

 

 

Day 9. Fly to Iguazu Falls

Today you fly to Iguazu falls. The falls are one of the natural wonders of the world and you will discover why they are worthy of this accolade over the next few days.

Day 10. Iguazu Falls

A full day with a guide to explore the Argentina side of Iguazu falls. Specially designed walkways take you right up close to the thundering water. You can add on a boat ride to get even closer to the famous “Devil’s throat’.

Day 11. Brazil side of Iguazu Falls, fly home

This morning you cross the border to the Brazil side of the falls where you have a stunning panoramic view. Later this afternoon we take you to the airport to fly to Buenos Aires or Sao Paolo to connect with your international flight home.

Expert Lowdown - Highlights of Argentina Tour

This is not an exhaustive list of Argentina highlights, you might also like to consider wine country, the high and dry north west and stunning wildlife of northern Patagonia. It’s easy to cross into Chilean Patagonia for Torres del Paine, ask us how to tailor your trip.

In Buenos Aires in particular people dine late. So to enjoy the city’s superb restaurants at their best don’t eat before 9pm. Luckily delicious empanadas make the perfect late afternoon snack to keep you going until steak time.

Check with your Doctor or local travel clinic about travel vaccinations. Yellow fever is sometimes recommended for Iguazu Falls.
