You also have time for a ride on the recently opened cable car which offers breathtaking views of the city and surrounding white peaked mountain range.

Today your journey continues towards the altiplano to the edge of the great salt flats, the largest salt lake on earth. Tonight you stay in a hotel made entirely of salt.

Day 7. Salt Flats

Today you embark on an exploration of the salt lake in a deluxe airstream camper with your own private chef and guide. A unique experience. Expert Lowdown - Colonial Towns and Salt Flats Bolivia Tour

It works well when combining Bolivia with Peru or Chile if you have the time. There are more flight options and more chance to acclimatise before hitting the heights of La Paz. Continue from Uyuni to the Chilean border to see more other worldly landscapes, bubbling hot springs, geysers and flamingos

Make your trip even more special and stay in a Luxury Air stream caravan on the salt lake.

Spend a few more days in and around La Paz seeing the pre Colombian ruins at Tiahuanaco and stunning Lake Titicaca
