An exciting journey today by road and boat takes you to Tortuguero National Park. After settling in to your rooms at the lodge your expert guide will bring the surrounding area alive on a nature walk where you can learn about the secrets of the forest and unique ecosystem of the canals.
An early morning boat ride today takes you to the peaceful canals when the birds and animals of the forest are waking up. Caiman, monkeys, iguanas and many bird species can usually be spotted.
Later this afternoon there is a guided walk to the local village. Here you can find out about the local conservation work to protect the turtles who nest here every year and are endangered.
After breakfast, return by boat to the dock near Limón, then you travel overland to Guapiles. After lunch, you will be taken by private transfer to Sarapiqui.
This morning a local expert guide will take you on a hike on one of the many trails into the forest. Options for all abilities are available. This region is particularly diverse and now a protected area. In the afternoon you travel by private transfer to Arenal. Possibly one of the world’s most impressive volcanoes, Arenal.
The hanging bridges are a wonderful way to get a bird’s eye view of the cloud forest canopy. Later this afternoon you have a gentle hike on the slopes of the volcano to visit some hot springs where you can soak in the thermal waters before returning to your hotel.
Today the Vargas family awaits you to share the rustic experience of being a real “Costa Rican Lechero”.
The farm has 70 ha with lakes, gardens, rivers, medicinal plants, species, roots and fruit trees; and of course grasslands where approximately 400 cows have their home and food. You will visit the cheese factory and the dairy and of course get to sample the delicious snacks and cheese from the house.
