On arrival to the capital of Costa Rica, we will pick you up and take you to your centrally located hotel.
Today you experience the beauty and power of nature in Costa Rica. At a coffee plantation you learn about the process of coffee production – from bean to cup. You visit one of the country’s many volcanoes; Poas which is one of the most spectacular volcanoes in the Americas. Its crater is nearly one mile across and there are stunning crystal blue steaming sulphur lagoons. Finally youu visit La Paz Waterfall Park for a relaxing walk and a visit to butterfly and hummingbird observatories.
This morning you travel through the lush Braulio Carrilo National Park to Tortuguero on Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. Tortuguero National Park is a rich natural environment where the freshwater rivers meet the sea to create beaches, canals, lagoons and wetlands. It is a very important nesting ground for three different breeds of turtle.
Take a boat ride and nature walk through the forests and creeks of Tortuguera – home to river turtles, Spectacled Caiman, Southern River Otters as well as Spider, Howler and Capuchin Monkey and hundreds of types of birds.
During turtle nesting season there are optional guided walks to see turtles nesting or hatching – one of the best places in the world to see this incredible event. Ask us for more details.
Head back into the mountains and the cloud forested area around Arenal Volcano. Your hotel has a full spa, two pools heated naturally by volcanic thermals, and views of the now resting Arenal Volcano.
This morning you visit Arenal Springs and Hanging Bridges. These raised walkways give an excellent view into the different layers of the forest. Situated in the migration path of both North and South American birds, Arenal is especially rich in birdlife.
Active for most of the past 50 years, Arenal volvano is resting for the moment. From the thick, wildlife-rich forests in the slope, you can take a gentle hike to a rocky area to see signs of recent eruptions.

This morning a local guide takes you to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The temperate climate here attracts many orchids as well as birds such as the famous Quetzal.
For the final part of your trip, we take you to the North Pacific Coast and your beachfront hotel at Tamarindo Beach. Here you can choose from the many activities on offer, or simply relax.
