From Ushuaia

1 Day: The Train at the End of the World

Make the most of your time in Ushuaia to explore the history of this town at the end of the world. In the 19th Century, a small train connected Ushuaia to the surrounding forests. Then it was used to transport prisoners, and now it is a lovely way to make the short trip to Tierra del Fuego National Park. Take a walk along coastal paths looking out for condors, Andean foxes and beavers.

3 Days: El Calafate

Is enough time to fly to El Calafate; the jumping off point for some terrific glaciers. Perito Moreno is one of very few glaciers that are actually increasing in size. Go horseback riding at a traditional ranch (estancia) and take a 4 x4 off road journey to look out over the southern ice field.

From Punta Arenas

1 Day:Otway Penguin Colony

Of course, there are a lot of penguins in Antarctica, but Patagonia is the home of the little magellenic penguin. In this colony in the Otway Sound, hundreds of thousands of breeding pairs return every year. Walk amongst the curious little guys on an easy day trip from Punta Arenas.
