Day 1. Quito
Arrive into the Ecuadorian capital city, private transport to your hotel.
Day 2. Quito
Tour of colonial Quito city including the “Middle of the World”, the point that marks the Equator that runs through the country, giving it it's name.
Day 3. Otavalo
Visit to the indigenous market of Otavalo, situated to the north of Quito. We have the privelage of spending time with an Otavalean family in their home in Lluman, the perfect way to experience the culture first hand.
Day 4. Cuicocha and Cotocachi
Visit the Cuicocha crater with its stunning turqoise lake. Then onto an artesan leather factory at Cotocachi, before returning to Quito.
Day 5. Cotopaxi
Cotopaxi is the world’s highest active volcano. A popular peak for climbers, you can get a taste of the allure of the mountain by making a short hike to the basecamp refuge at 4800m above sea level, where a well earned hot chocolate awaits you. In the afternoon we check into our hacienda and you have a free afternoon. There are opportunities for walking and horseriding.
Day 6. Quilotoa lake and Baños
Today we visit Quilotoa Lake, said to be the most beautiful in Ecuador, if not the Andes. In the afternoon we drive to Baños, the adventure capital of Ecuador. More on Quilotoa
Day 7. Waterfall Trail
Today you can choose to either go by car or bike along the waterfall trail to the impressive Pailon del Diablo. Your guide will explain your options in more detail. In the evening we visit a café on the flanks of the Tungurahua volcano.
Day 8. Riobamba
A free morning to enjoy a soak in hot springs or if you are feeling more active you can go horseriding or hiking. In the afternoon we drive to Riobamba situated near the mighty Chimborazo volcano.
Day 9. Devil's Nose Train
An early start to take the famous Devil’s nose train journey. Please note that due to irregularities in the train service company, departure on the train ride is not guaranteed. Please ask us for up to date information and if it is not available we will discuss the alternatives with you.
Day 10. Cuenca
On our way to Cuenca today we visit the site of Ingapirca, one of Ecuador's most important Inca sites. Cuenca is a delightful town and you may like to stroll around its colonial streets this evening while you reflect on your Ecuador adventure.
Day 11. Quito
Fly to Quito to connect with international flight.
