half an hour by boat from the jetty of the Hotel Tropical in Manaus, this lodge consists of 20 bungalows, each containing 3 suites (i.e. 60 rooms in total) with air-conditioning, fan and a private bathroom with hot water. The complex has two restaurants, plus the ‘Paradise Deck’ with a natural pool and private beach. The highlights are the setting – in dense primary forest – and the lodge’s private monkey jungle. Why not take a trip to see the ‘meeting of the waters’ – the Amazon and Rio Negre.
Close to Manaus yet feels a million miles away.
This really was the holiday of a lifetime and thanks to expedition leader Hannah and her fantastic team was it was a magical experience. The scenery and wildlife were breathtaking and the history of polar exportation, and my hero Sir Ernest Shackleton in particular was vividly, brought to life. To be able to follow his journey and pay my respects to him at his graveside in South Georgia was very emotional and something I will never forget.
