The hotel and villas are surrounded by tall indigenous trees that are home to families of howler monkeys, as well as tropical birds and butterflies. It has a good sized swimming pool and the 20 rooms and 16 villas are well equipped with mod cons including air con and their own terrace. The excellent restaurant serves healthy, tasty meals including sushi. The beach is not safe for swimming but offers stunning sunsets. You can swim at nearby Tamarindo beach.
It feels like a retreat from the town, a perfect place to relax when you have spent time exploring the jungles and volcanoes of Costa Rica and just want to chill out and reflect.
This really was the holiday of a lifetime and thanks to expedition leader Hannah and her fantastic team was it was a magical experience. The scenery and wildlife were breathtaking and the history of polar exportation, and my hero Sir Ernest Shackleton in particular was vividly, brought to life. To be able to follow his journey and pay my respects to him at his graveside in South Georgia was very emotional and something I will never forget.
