An elegant converted family house overlooking Plaza San Francisco. Tipped as one of South America’s best hotels, it lives up to expectations with excellent personal service and colonial charm. The 31 rooms and one suite are spacious and warmly decorated, some with murals. Bathrooms are marbled with all the mod cons. There is a superb restaurant and all manner of interesting local delicacies to try at breakfast. The indoor patio area is scented with enormous vases of fresh flowers, tea is served here every day so make time for it after a day out exploring the city.
There is a complementary tour of the hotel you can do to learn about its fascinating history.
This really was the holiday of a lifetime and thanks to expedition leader Hannah and her fantastic team was it was a magical experience. The scenery and wildlife were breathtaking and the history of polar exportation, and my hero Sir Ernest Shackleton in particular was vividly, brought to life. To be able to follow his journey and pay my respects to him at his graveside in South Georgia was very emotional and something I will never forget.
