La Travasia Petropolis

By Stephanie Kitchin

(11/09/2011)This amazing trek in Brazil is not for the feint hearted but the views are a worthy reward for all the effort.

La Travasia Petropolis

I started the trek Petropolis which is about 3 hours from Rio, and ended in Teretopolis. This is where people from the coast like to come in the hot summer months to cool down in the small mountain towns. The area is famous for its rock formations, "El Dedo de Deus" (finger of God) being the most well known. The full trek takes 3 days and you definitely need a head for heights and some climbing experience. However we're working on an itinerary for a softer option that can be done in 2 day's easy walking so watch this space for news on this and other ideas for trekking in Brazil.
