My trip to Iguacu Falls

Date: April 30,2015 By: Laura Ross Categories: News

The next part of my journey would take me to two new places – Argentina and Brazil.

news_1502_1Iguacu Falls are another World Heritage Sites with the National parks on both sides receiving this accolade. It is most definitely worth going to both countries to see them. From Brazil you get a sense of the whole panorama of the site. With over 275 waterfalls this place has to be seen to be believed. The sheer power and volume of water is incredible, especially from the walkways on the Brazilian side where the water thunders down soaking you with its spray. The flamboyant Brazilians laugh and chatter around the site and add to the buzz and excitement. If you stay on this side its worth visiting a local churrasqueria a fabulous BBQ restaurant where waiters bring tender cooked meat to your table on skewers and slice it straight onto your plate… delicious

The majority of the Falls are on the Argentine side but most of the river flows through Brazil. In Argentina, there is more to see with longer rainforest trails and varied wildlife. I spotted lizards, giant millipedes, toucans, countless birds, raccoons, butterflies and parrots. Jaguars are also seen here. There’s more space here to take your time and appreciate the wildlife, fauna and flora. There and lower and upper walkways on this side where you can experience the waterfalls from different angles – be in quiet pools, giant pounding smoothing the rocks below or looking up to see the indigenous swallows hanging upside down beneath the cascades. If you’re feeling daring, take the exhilarating boat trip right up to the Falls. In both places I felt the magnetism of this natural wonder of the world fill me up with energy. Magical.

news_1502_3I’d recommend a trip to South America visiting several countries. You could easily add on a visit to Rio de Janeiro or Buenos Airesafter this trip to allow you to see even more of this stunning continent.
